Working with clay is a process that transcends the act of making—it is a meditative and tactile experience. From the moment the material touches my hands, I am drawn into a dialogue between form, texture, possibilities.
I work with a range of techniques—wheel-throwing, hand-building, sculpting. Merging abstraction in the creative process with my Greek cultural heritage has shaped my aesthetics and understanding of beauty and allows me to bring a contemporary approach to my work. Each piece reflects a balance between my roots and the freedom of modern expression.
The alchemy between intention and unpredictability plays a central role in my work, and it is through this balance that the beauty of imperfection emerges.
Each piece I create begins with a vision, but as the clay responds to my hands, it often guides me toward unexpected directions. In this dynamic exchange, forms take shape that balance symmetry and asymmetry, smoothness and texture, gradually unfolding their own inherent flow. The process becomes less about imposing a rigid structure and more about allowing the material to express its natural tendencies. As the work evolves, the firing process introduces its own layer of unpredictability—an act of surrender where the raw forces of heat and nature leave their mark, adding nuance and depth to each piece. This relinquishing of control allows the work to breathe, bringing forth a character shaped as much by the material as by my intentions, where every imperfection becomes a meaningful part of the whole.
I admire the unexpected immensely.
I see the entire journey as one of exploration—an investigation into the endless possibilities that clay offers. I find great joy in deconstructing and recomposing forms, pushing the boundaries between functionality and art, and playing with contrasts. The unpredictability of each stage reflects my fascination with the unexpected, allowing my work to remain dynamic and open to the beauty found in imperfection.
It is for me a process of introspection, but also a great experience of communication and sharing. Something that is precious and unique to me.
